I just got off the phone with Kate, my best friend from high school. She’s teaching in Korea, and she and her boyfriend are coming to visit over Chinese New Year! Woo! Old friends! An excuse to finally go do some touristy things we’ve been wanting to do forever! She wants to go to Taroko Gorge, but I’m worried it’s more than a day trip, and that any hotels or hostels may already be booked. Looks like I’ve got to do some investigation into that sort of stuff in the next few days!

When I was in Taiwan last year, we took a day trip to Taroko Gorge. It was fun. Flew in from Taipei, went on a bus tour, looked about, and then flew back.
So it can be done in a day if needed.

Huh - that’s good to know, May. Thanks! I wonder if there are still excursions like that available so close to Chinese New Year? I wish work would lay off a bit so I have time to find out!
